VAAL TRIANGLE - Vaal Triangle residents should brace themselves for a weekend of higher than normal temperatures. The South African Weather Service has issued a warning of a heatwave that is expected to hit Gauteng this weekend. According to its Twitter page, persistently high temperatures are expected in Gauteng from Saturday, 6 January, until and including Monday, 8 January. Temperatures of up to 36 degrees are expected in Vanderbijlpark over the weekend. The Weather Service issued a warning of "extremely hot weather conditions" and has advised residents to "stay indoors" and "stay hydrated and cool". It also previously urged residents experiencing a heatwave to ensure that pets have a cool place to relax and cool clean water to drink. Residents are urged to limit participation in outdoor activities, wear the appropriate clothing, use sunscreen and not to leave children or pets in a vehicle, even with a window open.
