Resistance to fuel price increases grows

July 18, 2018

VAAL TRIANGLE - A group calling itself People against Petrol and Paraffin Price Increases, or Pappi, is vowing to shut down highways countrywide on the 27th of this month. Protesting motorists and truck drivers this morning blocked off the N-3 in Pietermaritzburg and the N-2 near Chatsworth in Durban, demanding that fuel prices be decreased. The protest led to massive traffic delays. Pappi’s Visvin Reddy says protest action seems to be the only way to get government to listen to people’s concerns.
