Cope to table a Bill to legalise assisted dying

August 7, 2018

VAAL TRIANGLE - Cope’s chief whip Deidre Carter has served notice to introduce in Parliament a Bill that will explicitly allow for living wills to be recognised, and allow for patients to refuse medical treatment. The Private Members’ Bill has been drafted with the help of Dignity South Africa. Carter says she hopes this initiative will foster public and policy-maker awareness, and debate around the right to legalise assisted dying.
