VAAL TRIANGLE - The IFP has reacted to yesterday’s unanimous Constitutional Court ruling legalising the private use of dagga for adults by saying it has since 2014 been at the forefront of calls to commercialise hemp. It also introduced the Medical Innovation Bill which last year opened the door for South Africans to apply for a licence to grow, cultivate and manufacture dagga for medical purposes. The ALCO-Safe organisation has responded by warning that as with alcohol consumption, the use of dagga leads to intoxication. The organisation says it is critical for governing bodies to be proactive in formulating regulations, limits and testing requirements well ahead of legalisation. This is essentially important when it comes to road safety.
