MIDVAAL - The Midvaal Local Municipality officially reopened several roads in Lakeside township, which have undergone tarring and upgrades. Midvaal Executive Mayor Bongani Baloyi, MMC for Engineering Services Peter Teixeira and MMC for Corporate Services Amelia Tsukudu officially opened roads including Bulalo, Luvo, Mzinto, Mtwalume, Senzela, Nkomazi, Uhlanga and Fafa Streets. Midvaal spokesperson, Mmatshepo Chiloane, said in a statement this comes after completion of the multimillion-rand project which was initiated in 2013 as part of plans to standardise service delivery across the municipality. Lakeside becomes the first township in the Midvaal Local Municipality to be fully tarred, a development which is expected to increase economic activity in the area by making it easier and safer to move and transport goods in and out of that township. Lakeside is also one of five townships in Midvaal which have been identified to form part of the municipality’s flagship Economic Development Centres programme, which aims to introduce production and manufacturing hubs in local communities in efforts to increase economic growth and create jobs.
