BREAKING: VAAL TRIANGLE - A High Court order yesterday interdicted Eskom from interrupting the power supply to Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) from today as it warned it would do in a notice. Municipal spokesperson, Stanley Gaba, this afternoon told 90.6 FM News that judgement was reserved in the court session between ELM and Eskom yesterday, 15 October. Gaba said according to the court order, applicants should file their further submissions in respect of the competency andpracticality of direct payment to Eskom by 23 October 2018. He said ELM should further file their submissions in respect of competency and practicality of businesses making direct payment to Eskom by 30 October 2018. This comes as a notice on Eskom’s website said it would introduce power interruptions to Vereeniging, Vanderbijlpark, Sebokeng, Boipatong, Tshepiso, Sharpville and Evaton from October 16, 2018, due to ELM’s non-payment of its debt to the power utility.
