VEREENIGING - The Vereeniging SAPS says the theft of motor vehicles is still rife, especially in the Three Rivers area. Police spokesperson, Captain Fikile Funda, said in their weekend crime report that criminals mostly target Volkswagen Polo’s. Funda further warned the community not to display their jewellery or any electrical appliances like cellphones or laptops in the Vereeniging CBD. He warned that there are robbers who will steal them. However, Funda also said the Vereeniging SAPS arrested 14 suspects over the weekend for various crimes. This includes the possession of drugs, driving under the influence, kidnapping, armed robbery, theft, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm and the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. According to Funda, all the arrested suspects will appear in the Vereeniging magistrate court.
