SAPS will show no tolerance to drunk driving over festive season

November 7, 2018

VAAL TRIANGLE - The Police Service has issued a warning to drivers that they will implement a zero-tolerance policy against drinking and driving this festive season. The Road Traffic Management Corporation is pushing for tougher legal action against drunk drivers. It wants driving under the influence to be reclassified from a Schedule 2 to a Schedule 5 offence, ensuring that offenders are not granted bail easily and that drunk drivers should be detained for at least seven days before they can be considered for bail.
