VAAL TRIANGLE - Vaal Triangle residents can expect another day of power cuts as Eskom announced stage two load shedding for today. Eskom spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe tweeted last night that stage 2 load shedding would be implemented today for 13 hours between 09:00 and 22:00. Phasiwe tweeted at around 21:15 that the prognosis from the system operator is that the power system will remain constrained for most of this week, with some relief from Friday. The power utility had hoped to avoid load shedding during the week by conducting maintenance, replenishing diesel supplies and topping up water reservoirs for pumped storage schemes over the weekend. But breakdowns at power generating units mean electricity rationing is set to continue. In a separate statement last night, Eskom said teams would work through the night to try and bring the units back online.
