March 15, 2019

VANDERBIJLPARK - The Vanderbijlpark SAPS is searching for witnesses of a hit and run in the CBD about two months ago after the man who was hit has died. Police spokesperson, Sergeant Gertrude Makhale, yesterday said in a statement the incident occurred on January 19 at 08:45 in President Kruger Street, Vanderbijlpark CBD. She said the 71-year-old Marthinus Lourens Fivaz was allegedly hit by a Quantum vehicle in the Vanderbijlpark CBD. Fivaz was rushed to the local hospital, but lost his life last week on March 8. Police are now investigating a culpable homicide case. The SAPS urged anyone who may have been a witness or who has information about reckless and negligent driving in the CBD to come forward to make a statement. Makhale said this can be of assistance with the investigation and help to bring closure to the family. She urged anyone with information to contact D/Capt. Job Motshoeneng at 082 822 7247 or Sgt. Mahlanku (016) 910-9025. Contact information will be available on the 90.6 FM News Facebook and Twitter pages.
