SARS lift tax return threshold

June 4, 2019

VAAL TRIANGLE - The SA Revenue Service announced that it has lifted the tax return threshold from R350 000 to R500 000. This means that people who earn less than R500 000 per year, and meet certain other criteria, will not need to file tax returns. Taxpayers who only receive income from one employer, have no other form of income such as car allowance or rental income or who don’t have any additional allowable tax related deductions such as medical expenses or retirement contribution will not need to file for tax returns.
