Latest update: Rand Water work on B11 water pipeline affecting Emfuleni, Metsimaholo

UPDATE: Rand Water said residents should note that those areas in Vanderbijlpark without water are as a consequence of major water leak. It said Emfuleni Municipality is in the process of dealing with the repair. The municipality to keep consumers informed of ETR. The Rand Water network is normal. All reservoirs are being closely monitored.

VAAL TRIANGLE - Rand Water said Activity 1 of the bulk planned B11 water pipeline shutdown is proceeding according to schedule. Spokesperson, Justice Mohale, said the Isolation of the Pipeline and drainage of the water commenced on schedule today at 6:00 and will be completed at 22:00 tonight. Mohale said this 12 km pipeline is 2500mm in diameter, from where significant volumes of water need to be drained. The draining of water will allow technicians to safely commence with the required cutting and welding aspect of the work. The isolation is complete and the line is being drained. All the required resources are on site i.e. valve, crane and required skilled human resources, etc. Activity 2 is the Cutting of the Pipeline and rigging it out, will commence after 22:00 today for which four hours have been allocated. The remaining work activities for the duration of the Shutdown consist primarily of welding, testing and commissioning the new line. Emfuleni and Metsimaholo are among the areas being affected to various degrees by the shutdown.
