Google plans new undersea cable to bring superfast internet to South Africa

VAAL TRIANGLE - South Africans, including Vaal Triangle residents can look forward to faster internet as Google announced that it plans to build a new undersea cable from Portugal to South Africa, which promises to bring superfast internet to the country. The cable will use state-of-the-art infrastructure that will deliver approximately twenty times more network capacity than the existing cable. According to Business Insider, a contract was already signed with Alcatel Submarine Networks and the cable, fully funded by Google, is expected to be operational in South Africa by 2021.
