VAAL TRIANGLE - Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Jacob Mamabolo, yesterday conducted unannounced visits to a number of struggling departmental projects in the Vaal area. Mamabolo convened meetings with the leadership of the Sedibeng District Municipality where he was briefed on roads and public transport-related challenges in the area. The MEC visited the biggest people mover in the Vaal, the Ipelegeng Transport bus depot, where he was briefed by management on the problems that are afflicting the company. Mamabolo said the biggest challenge for the bus company is the quality of roads as they incur massive costs due to potholes. He said they will this month unveil a campaign to close potholes in the area. Mamabolo also conducted site visits at the Sebokeng Driving Licence Testing Centres (DLTC), the newly built Bophelong taxi rank and a Vereeniging taxi rank which is still under construction.
