VAAL TRIANGLE - The Emfuleni Local Municipality in an announcement said they are urgently implementing measures to ensure customers are not impacted by the termination of the Smart Meter contract between them and BXC SA. The municipality says all smart meters will be replaced with normal pre-paid conventional meters until lasting solutions can be found. They say those who run out of electricity will have their smart meters by-passed, but records will be kept to ensure they are billed for the consumption during the by-pass period. The municipality says Emfuleni technicians and a service provider are currently attending to all complaints. All complaints must be registered through the Emfuleni control room, but due to a high volume of complaints residents may struggle to get through. Smart Meter customers can issue complaints to the control room by contacting 016 430 1836/12/17/38 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
