VAAL TRIANGLE - Three people were left injured Saturday afternoon in a boating accident on the Vaal River in Vaalpark. ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after 17h30 to find the boat parked on the nearby jetty. A man and two women were found seated nearby. Medics assessed the patients and found that all three had sustained minor to moderate injuries. Fortunately, no serious injuries or fatalities were found. The patients were treated for their injuries and were thereafter transported to nearby hospitals for further care. It is understood that the driver lost control of the boat, causing it to crash into the R57 pillars near the shore of the river. In another local incident a man, believed to be in his 40s, was declared dead yesterday morning after drowning in the Vaal Dam in Deneysville. ER24 paramedics were called to the scene at 10h00 after bystanders had witnessed the man falling in the dam. On arrival, medics found the man lying on the banks surrounded by members of the community. Medics assessed the man and found that he showed no signs of life. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead. The exact details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
