VAAL TRIANGLE - Eskom has announced a bulk electricity supply interruption to the Emfuleni Local Municipality with effect from 6 November 2019. In the statement, Eskom says this is due to the contravention of the payment conditions it concluded with the municipality. Eskom says the municipality has failed to pay its electricity accounts despite numerous demands and despite the fact that they receive money from customers for electricity. According to Eskom, the municipality currently owes them R 1.7 billion. The contemplated interruption of electricity supply will result in a temporary scheduled disconnection from 6am until 8pm on Mondays to Sundays. Eskom says if the municipality’s debt situation does not improve they will serve the notice to disconnect electricity entirely to the municipality. The areas which will be affected by this interruption are Vanderbijlpark, Vereeniging, Boipatong, Tshepiso, Sharpeville and Evaton.
