VAAL TRIANGLE - The Department of Basic Education has rejected what it describes as the continued deliberate misrepresentation of facts regarding some of the content in the Life Orientation subject. It says it has noted with concern that a certain organization persists in misleading the public by publishing the wrong information about the sexuality section of the curriculum, resulting in unnecessary confusion and panic. The department says there is no new content in the subject. This follows after Freedom of Religion South Africa (FOR SA) last week yet again voiced its stance against sex education lessons in the 2020 curriculum for younger grades. FOR SA vented their fury after allegedly coming across the finalised plans for next year. According to Executive Director of FOR SA, Michael Swain, some of the content is “nothing less than soft pornography.” FOR SA labelled the “graphic and ideologically-laden content” as “completely inappropriate” for a young audience.
