December 3, 2019

VANDERBIJLPARK - The Sharpeville SAPS says three African males attempted to rob a famous fast food restaurant at Vaal Mall in Vanderbijlpark on Sunday. This comes amid Black Friday-weekend madness at shopping centres across the country, while many shoppers were still trying to cash in on deals at the local mall. The 90.6 FM News Team was on the scene and can confirm that the KFC at Vaal Mall was the target of the suspects. Upon our arrival, two suspects could be seen lying on the ground with a heavy police presence cordoning off a big part of the parking area around the fast food outlet.
Vaalweekblad reports Sharpeville police spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango, says they arrested the three men after the crime occurred on Sunday morning. Sango says the arrest comes after a Hawks officer followed intelligence about a robbery happening at the restaurant. According to Sango, upon his arrival, the officer called for backup from the flying squad who responded swiftly. Sango adds that police are investigating an attempted business robbery.
