Vanderbijlpark SAPS confiscates illegal substances and weapons from schools

VANDERBIJLPARK - The Vanderbijlpark SAPS says during Operation Shanela, they searched schools within Vanderbijlpark and Bopehlong recently for illegal substances or dangerous weapons that may be in learners’ possession during school hours. Police spokesperson, Sgt Sabelo Sigcu, said in a statement Social Crime Prevention and Communication Officers from various Stations under the Sedibeng District were part of the initiative, which was hailed a success, as illegal substances and dangerous weapons were found and confiscated. Further, Sigcu said the extension 9 community in Bophelong was addressed by Brigadier Ndaba and Brigadier Sibuyi during a public meeting whereby the community was asked to give concerns and complaints on their respective areas. Brigadier Ndaba emphasised to the community to make use of their Sector Managers and to call the Station Commander of Vanderbilpark, if they need clarity on anything concerning the curbing of any criminal activities. Brigadier Sefatsa was thrilled with the initiative, as she also have an open door policy. The police encouraged communities to report any criminal activities in their area to their nearest police station.
