A cash-in-transit security officer shot dead in Orange Farm.

ORANGE FARM - The Gauteng police is investigating a case of murder, robbery and attempted murder. This comes after an armed robber shot a Cash-In Transit security officer at the Cashbuild Hardware store in Orange Farm on Saturday, 14 October. Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the security guard went inside the business premises to collect cash and was suddenly pointed with a firearm. According to Mathe, during a brawl, the suspect fatally shot the security guard three times. The suspect took the bag of cash from the deceased and fled the scene. Another suspect, armed with an AK-47 rifle observed the outside of the building and started shooting at the driver in the cash van. The driver was not injured and managed to drive away from the scene towards Grasmere toll gate. According to Mathe, eight AK47 cartridges and three 9mm cartridges were found on the crime scene. Members of the public with any information which may assist in police investigations are urged to come forward.
