VANDERBIJLPARK - The Barrage SAPS led a joint crime-prevention operation to clamp down on criminal activity and boost police visibility across key hotspots in the precinct, on the evening of June 5. The operation commenced with a parade at Vaaluitsig and ran from 18:15 until midnight. The coordinated effort involved several roleplayers, including the Community Policing Forum, Neighborhood Watch, Siyabangena Patrollers, and private security firms. Focus areas included high-crime zones and known trouble spots, with intelligence-led policing guiding enforcement actions. Multiple arrests were made, notably that of a foreign national caught with drugs hidden in a vehicle dashboard, allegedly en route for delivery. Barrage SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Sophia Gaboutlwelwe said that these joint operations are a clear demonstration of their ongoing commitment to crime prevention. She added that through strong collaboration, they are making it increasingly difficult for criminals to operate. The public is urged to report suspicious activity anonymously via Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
