Cancer cases are on the increase

VAAL TRIANGLE - Health experts have warned that cancer cases are on the increase in South Africa. Estimates show that new cancer cases will more than double between 2019 and 2030. This estimate is based on modelling studies. Statistics South Africa says cancer was responsible for 9.7% of deaths in the country in 2018. Cancer-related deaths also increased by 29% between 2008 and 2018. Reported cancer cases increased from 77,000 in 2021 to 87,874 in 2023.
