SEBOKENG - The SAPS in Sebokeng is investigating a heartbreaking accident that claimed the life of a crawling baby in Zone 14, Sebokeng, on the afternoon of Thursday, January 23, 2025. Rea Gazette reports, SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane said officers responded to a distress call after reports that a vehicle had run over a baby. It is alleged that the driver, who had just dropped off a scholar, was reversing when he heard a noise from the rear of his vehicle. Upon inspection, he discovered that he had accidentally driven over a baby. The infant was rushed to Sebokeng Hospital where medical personnel declared the child deceased on arrival. The body was transferred to the Sebokeng Government Mortuary. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident are ongoing. Authorities urge parents and guardians to exercise caution and always monitor young children, especially those crawling or playing near roads and driveways, to prevent such devastating incidents.
