EVATON - The Evaton SAPS is investigating a case of murder after a crime prevention operation conducted by Gauteng Traffic Wardens ended in a deadly shootout on Friday night 09 August. The operation, led by a Gauteng Traffic Officer, occurred around 20:00 Friday night following a tip-off about a suspected drug dealer on Milner Road. According to Evaton Police spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi, officers were met with gunfire upon entering the premises. During the exchange, a traffic warden, known as "Mapanyaza," was shot in the upper right leg. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries. The suspect was also fatally wounded in the incident and was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. Police have since opened a murder case as investigations continue.
