EVATON - The DA says the Gauteng Department of Health must immediately terminate the Levai Mbata Clinic pavement tender in Evaton, Emfuleni Local Municipality, citing nepotism and questionable hiring practices. the party claims residents seeking employment on the project have been denied opportunities, while family members and close associates of local officials are reportedly employed on the site. The appointed subcontractor, Lethole Trading, is owned by Sipho Ncwadi, the ANC Branch Secretary in Emfuleni, who also serves as the project’s Community Liaison Officer. Health MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko confirmed these details in a written reply to questions posed in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature. The DA says the situation reflects a conflict of interest and breaches financial management laws, undermining transparency and fairness. They are demanding urgent termination of the tender and action against those who benefited unduly.
