DA Metsimaholo says Wonderfontein land development does not adhere to conditions

SASOLBURG - The Democratic Alliance in Metsimaholo has expressed its concern about the underground infrastructure that is being installed on the Wonderfontein Land Development by the Free State Provincial Department of Human Settlements. The DA in Metsimaholo’s Cllr. Jacques Barnard said in a statement the DA has reported the matter to the Provincial Legislature as well as the National Council of Provinces. Barnard said the Development is not adhering to conditions as set by set by National Departments and Municipal by-laws. He said some of the breaches of conditions include not upgrading the existing Leeuwspruit pump station; serious issues and shortcomings regarding the capacity of the existing infrastructure to handle sewer and wastewater effluent from any new developments; and the previous designs for the area must be revised to ensure that enough store capacity is available for this new development even during power failings/cuts by Eskom. Barnard said the backward manner in which this development is taking place is a spelling disaster. If the current trajectory continues, the opportunity to inspire the community and investors to invest in Sasolburg, to engage in building attractive and decent housing, will be lost.
