VAAL TRIANGLE - The DA in Emfuleni says it is filing a complaint against the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) with the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) today. DA Emfuleni North Constituency Head, Kingsol Chabalala MPL, said in a statement the complaint pertains to Emfuleni’s failure to provide essential services such as clean water, adequate sanitation, and effective sewage management. This neglect has resulted in communities living in squalor and at risk of health issues. Chabalala will be joined by the DA Vaal Regional Chairperson, Cllr Prudence Hlanyane and DA Emfuleni Caucus Leader, Cllr Duncan Mthembu. Chabalala said the DA has consistently raised concerns regarding Emfuleni’s inability to deliver essential services. Unfortunately, their calls for action have fallen on deaf ears from Emfuleni and the Gauteng Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), which is tasked with holding this municipality accountable.
