VAAL TRIANGLE - The Department of Agriculture, Land Reform, and Rural Development is cautioning local residents and holiday travellers about the presence of rabies in high-risk areas across the country. The warning includes KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga, as well as along the border between Free State Province and Lesotho. Of particular concern are the heightened risk areas in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape. The public is strongly advised against approaching, touching, or attempting to handle stray dogs and cats in these identified areas.
