EVATON - An Emfuleni councillor has threatened legal action against news channel eNCA, claiming its coverage of a local land dispute has damaged his reputation. The dispute centres on land owned by Evaton Mathlo Projects, where several residents have occupied property, saying they purchased it from the councillor. The municipality, along with affected residents, are currently respondents in an eviction matter tied to the occupation. The councillor says eNCA’s reporting has unfairly implicated him, insisting the allegations are baseless and harmful to his public image. Some residents, however, maintain that payments were made directly to the councillor in exchange for plots. The councillor has since confirmed his intention to proceed with legal action, arguing that the broadcaster’s coverage has caused reputational harm.
The case continues to spark debate in the community as the legal process unfolds.
