Father sought after fatal fire kills two children in Sharpeville

SHARPVILLE - A man is currently on the run after being accused of fatally burning his one-year-old daughter and five-year-old stepson in a tragic incident on Saturday evening in Phelendaba, Sharpeville. The 24-year-old mother from Sharpeville, Lerato Adams says her relationship with her partner, a Zimbabwean national and father of her youngest child, was marked by frequent conflict. On the night of the fire, following a heated argument, Lerato left her children asleep at home, seeking refuge at a friend's place. Later, Lerato's friends noticed her home ablaze, with her partner reportedly standing outside watching. He fled before anyone could intervene. Lerato, devastated and confused, seeks justice for her children. ommunity members are rallying to support her during this heartbreaking time. Sharpeville police spokesperson Constable Busisiwe Sango confirmed that a case of inquest has been opened, and efforts are intensifying to apprehend the suspect.
