VAAL TRIANGLE - Health NGO Right to Care is calling on all men in the Sedibeng district to visit their nearest clinic for a free medical circumcision as part of their HIV prevention campaign. Dr. Khumbulani Moyo, Chief of Party of the Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision programme, explains that through their "Soka Fridays" initiative, men can be circumcised on a Friday and return to work by Monday. Circumcision has been shown to reduce the risk of HIV transmission by up to 60% and lowers the risk of HPV, which causes cervical cancer in women. Popular comedian and motivational speaker, Simphiwe Shembe, is backing the campaign titled ukuSoka with Simphiwe Shembe. He encourages men over 15 to take advantage of this free service. Clinics, including Levai Mbatha CHC in Evaton, operate every Friday from 07:30 to 16:00. For more information, call the Right to Care circumcision hotline on 082 808 6152.
