SHARPEVILLE - The Sharpeville SAPS is investigating a case of murder after a man was shot in the early hours of Sunday morning while on his way to work along Tau Bazaar. The victim, an African male, was approached by an unknown man who demanded his cellphone. According to Sharpeville police spokesperson, Constable Busisiwe Sango, the victim attempted to comply by throwing his cellphone to the suspect. Despite this, the suspect produced a firearm and shot the victim, leaving him with a fatal gunshot wound. The suspect then fled the scene with the cellphone. Police are urging community members to exercise caution, especially when walking alone in the dark. Authorities are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to come forward by contacting the police on 08600 10111 or through the MySAPS app, available for download on smartphones.
