Metsimaholo Municipal Mayor again voted out in motion of no confidence

SASOLBURG - The Metsimaholo Local Municipality says its Executive Mayor, Cllr Jeff Zwane, has again been removed from office. Municipal spokesperson, Gino Alberts, said in a statement this occurred through a vote of no confidence held on Friday, 6 October, during a special council No.4 of 2023/2024 meeting held at the Civic Centre in Sasolburg, Vaal Triangle. The motion was brought before the council by the Economic Freedom Fighters against the DA mayor. Alberts said out of 42 councillors that attended the special council meeting, the motion was supported by 22 councillors, opposed by 12 councillors and eight ballot papers were spoilt. Voting for the removal of the mayor was through secret ballot, while voting of the new executive mayor was through a show of hands. Alberts said the African Independent Congress Cllr Jack Malindi has again been elected as the new mayor of the Sasolburg-based municipality.
