MIDVAAL - The Midvaal Local Municipality has unanimously approved its fully funded R2-billion 2025/2026 Medium Term Revenue and Expenditure Framework and Integrated Development Plan, making it one of the few municipalities in Gauteng to do so. The three-year MTREF plan, shaped through extensive public consultations, prioritises service delivery amid tough economic conditions. The approved R2.126 billion operational budget includes tariff increases of 7% for rates, water, and refuse, 6% for sanitation, and 12.7% for electricity—pending NERSA approval. Expenditure is budgeted at R2.111 billion, with key allocations for repairs, salaries, and Eskom-related costs. Highlights include R69-million to replace asbestos pipes, R26-million for a Savanna City substation, and ongoing electrification in Sicelo. The municipality has also invested in crime prevention vehicles and extended property rate rebates to more residents. Midvaal remains committed to responsible governance and improved quality of life.
