Midvaal Municipality launches a mobile Library Bus Service

MIDVAAL - The Midvaal Local Municipality has launched a mobile Library Bus Service to promote literacy, and learning, and to improve accessibility for residents living in remote areas. Mayoral spokesperson, Idah Satikhe, said in a statement the Library Bus Service will go beyond the brick-and-mortar location, bringing library services directly to communities that lack traditional libraries in their areas. Residents living in more secluded and peripheral areas such as rural areas, remote communities, and undeserved neighborhoods will have easier access to library services, while the service will also extend to the elderly in retirement homes. Satikhe said this mobile service initiative will improve access to books, educational resources, internet access, and other materials for people who struggle to reach libraries. It will operate on schedule in Wards 1, 2, 5, 7, 11, 12, and 13.
