MIDVAAL - The Midvaal Local Municipality officially opened its first Skills Development Centre in Savanna City On Monday, 1 September 2025. The milestone, years in the making, forms part of Executive Mayor Alderman Peter Teixeira’s Mayoral Undertaking of Creating Opportunities for All. The project, launched in partnership with HEINEKEN Beverages and implemented by Ranyaka Community Transformation, will provide artisan training in plumbing, carpentry, bricklaying, electrical work, millwrighting, and boiler making. It will also serve as a hub for innovation, enterprise development, and SMME support. Mayor Teixeira said the centre directly responds to limited opportunities caused by slow economic growth: “It is about equipping our people with the tools to create a better life for themselves.” HEINEKEN Managing Director Jordi Borrut praised the initiative as a sustainable, community-driven solution, while Ranyaka CEO Sithembiso Malevu called it “a platform of opportunity” for youth and small businesses.
