VEREENIGING - Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Fred Kekana led a successful High-Density Operation in Vereeniging, Sedibeng District, where more than forty suspects were arrested for various crimes on 3 October. The operation started with the roadblock where police searched for illicit goods and substances. During the roadblock, undocumented persons were arrested and an unlicensed firearm as well as illicit cigarettes were seized. A Hyundai H100 with tempered engine numbers was impounded. Other suspects were arrested for crimes that range from house robbery to bribery. Thereafter, the Acting Provincial Commissioner, together with the Sedibeng Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Mbangwa Nkhwashu, proceeded to Vereeniging Taxi Rank, where they engaged with the community on issues of crime in the area. The community raised their concerns and highlighted crimes that they feel police should concentrate on minimising in the vicinity.
