VEREENIGING - The Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko together with the Executive Mayor of the Sedibeng District Municipality, Lerato Maloka launched the first-ever Key Population centre for the district at Market Avenue Clinic in Vereeniging this past Friday, 24 November. This center, dedicated to key populations like sex workers, persons who inject drugs, inmates, and LGBTQI+ community members, aims to offer a safe haven and comprehensive health services to a community that stand a higher risk contracting and transmitting HIV and STIs. Services will encompass counselling, HIV, STI, and TB screenings, as well as access to Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and Antiretroviral Therapy (ART), in an effort to improve health service offerings that lead to the reduction of HIV and STI infection among this group.
