New municipal financial year brings major tariff hikes and higher electricity bills

VAAL TRIANGLE - Tomorrow marks the start of the municipal financial year, which will see significant electricity price hikes and taxes kick in. Major metros across the country will increase monthly rates for electricity, water, sanitation, refuse removal and property rates. Along with the electricity price hikes across the metros, households will likely see electricity bills higher than stated. This is due to Eskom’s new fee structure that carries various capacity, network and service charges.
