VAAL TRIANGLE - Even higher taxes and the risk of medical experts leaving the country are just some of the possible consequences of the National Health Insurance (NHI), if it is implemented. In a new research report, AfriForum highlights the proposed National Health Insurance could have severe consequences. The research outlines the potential impact, including exacerbating inequality, placing additional financial strain on taxpayers, and the risk of a medical expertise drain if implemented. The civil rights organisation concludes the NHI would be detrimental to the economy and the well-being of most citizens. AfriForum’s Louis Boshoff hopes the report will clarify misconceptions during ongoing parliamentary discussions about the NHI Bill.
