Emfuleni pays Eskom in full for first time in months

VANDERBIJLPARK - Eskom and the Emfuleni Local Municipality are celebrating a major achievement in electricity management. For the first time in months, the municipality has fully settled its current electricity account. This follows the signing of the Distribution Agency Agreement (DAA) in October 2024, which appointed Eskom as the service delivery agent for Emfuleni’s electricity operations. This milestone marks a turning point for the municipality, which has historically struggled to meet its electricity payments. Since implementing the DAA, Emfuleni has seen increased payment levels, improved supply reliability, and enhanced infrastructure maintenance. These improvements benefit residents and businesses by ensuring a more stable electricity supply that supports economic growth. While this progress is encouraging, Eskom and Emfuleni stress the need for continued commitment. Customers are urged to pay for their electricity directly into Eskom’s account to sustain these positive changes.
