Operation Shanela leads to 38 arrests in Sebokeng

SEBOKENG - A large-scale crime prevention operation was successfully conducted in the Sebokeng policing district over the weekend. Operation Shanela, led by SAPS Sedibeng District in collaboration with various law enforcement agencies, resulted in the arrest of 38 suspects for serious offenses. Spearheaded by Brigadier Sibongile Ndaba and Brigadier Thembekile Kubone, the initiative focused on crime prevention, law enforcement, and community safety. Key arrests included suspects wanted for murder, gender-based violence, assault, kidnapping, theft, and rape. During searches, 774 individuals, 260 vehicles, and 20 spaza shops were inspected, while five crime hotspots were patrolled. Traffic officials issued 14 fines totaling R6,800, and one liquor outlet was shut down. Sebokeng police urge residents to report criminal activities and join community patrols.
