Over R1 million in counterfeit goods seized in Vereeniging raid

VEREENIGING - The Gauteng Counterfeit Unit, together with brand protectors and the Vereeniging Visible Police, carried out a major operation targeting counterfeit goods in Vereeniging, On Wednesday, 6 August 2025. Seven shops were inspected during the crackdown, leading to the seizure of a large haul of illegal products valued at over R1-million. Among the items confiscated were counterfeit consumables, clothing, and bags, alongside illicit medicines and honey products. The total estimated value of these goods is R1,064,820.00. This operation highlights the ongoing battle against counterfeit and illicit trade in the region, aimed at protecting consumers and legitimate businesses. Authorities warn that counterfeit products can pose serious health risks and damage local economies. The Gauteng Counterfeit Unit and its partners remain committed to rooting out illegal traders and ensuring safer markets for all. Further inspections and operations are expected in the coming weeks.
