Police detectives face a huge backlog of cases

VAAL TRIANGLE - Police Minister Senzo Mchunu says detectives face a backlog of almost 2-million outstanding dockets. The minister answered questions from members of Parliament yesterday afternoon. He told Parliament that each detective handles too many cases. The minister says his department is recruiting new detectives to deal with this challenge. Mchunu told Parliament that he is also looking for resources because the National Treasury does not have money.
