Police Investigate Fatal Shooting at Polokong Sports Grounds

SEBOKENG - The Sebokeng SAPS is investigating a case of murder and two of attempted murder, following a fatal shooting at the Polokong Sports Grounds near Crystal Springs Combined School, in the Vaal Triangle. According to Sebokeng Police Spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane, Steven Nobela was shot and killed after intervening in a fight between the suspect and another individual, while watching a soccer match with friends. Following the altercation, two men approached the group. After one was overheard saying “That’s him”, he shot Nobela multiple times before stealing his firearm, cellphone, and cash from his sling bag. As bystanders attempted to help, the suspect fired at the crowd, injuring two people. The suspect and his accomplices fled the scene and remain at large. Sergeant Mokhachane is urging anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts or details of the crime to come forward.
