PARYS - The Tumahole Crime Prevention unit in collaboration with the Trio task team in Parys arrested a twenty-eight-year-old man on Thursday, 4 April, after police members received information that the suspect was wanted for his alleged involvement in a business robbery. Parys Gazette reported the man was expected to appear before the magistrate's court in Parys yesterday, Monday 8 April. In another incident, police spokesperson Sgt. Josephine Rani says a foreign couple between the ages of 23 and 34 was arrested in Sasolburg on Sunday, 7 April for possession of illegal cigarettes. According to Rani, highway patrol members from Sasolburg patrolled the R82 on Saturday, 6 April when they noticed a white Nissan NP 200 bakkie under suspicious circumstances. Police officers stopped and searched the bakkie on which 3,500 sealed packets of illegal cigarettes worth R42,000 were found. The driver of the vehicle did not have legal documentation to be in the country. The couple was also expected to appear before the Sasolburg Magistrate's Court yesterday, Monday, 8 April.
