VAAL TRIANGLE - Parliament has extended the deadline for written public comments on the SABC Bill until 16 January. The proposed bill aims to streamline the SABC board, enhancing its responsibilities and accountability, introducing reforms in the broadcaster’s funding model, and changing the TV licensing system, among other provisions. The Department of Communications and Digital Technologies notes the amendments include a provision for a household levy to replace the existing TV licenses. The bill seeks to improve the efficiency of operations at the public broadcaster. Those making written comments may indicate their interest by making verbal presentations.
