R250,000 in gold jewellery stolen from Riverstone Mall

MEYERTON - The Meyerton SAPS have launched a full investigation after gold jewellery worth over R250,000 was stolen from a jewellery store at Riverstone Mall on Tuesday, 3 June 2025. Rea Gazette reports, three suspects, two women and one man, posed as customers before committing the theft between 14:00 and 15:30. The trio initially pretended to inquire about watch straps and rings, then left. They returned later, with one woman requesting an engraved disc. While the jeweller was in the back workshop, the other two suspects entered the display area. After the disc was paid for, all three left. Only 30 minutes later did staff notice an open showcase. A box containing gold necklaces and bracelets was missing. CCTV footage shows the suspects placing the jewellery into a handbag before leaving in a white Ford Icon, reg. MT200TMGP.
