Rand Water hosted Ministers in Vereeniging for oversight visit to water expansion project

VEREENIGING - Rand Water hosted the Minister of Water and Sanitation, Pemmy Majodina, along with Deputy Ministers David Mahlobo and Sello Seitlholo, at the Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant and Station 5A Plant Upgrade Project in Vereeniging. Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, and executive mayors from Emfuleni, Ekurhuleni, Tshwane, and Johannesburg also attended the oversight visit. Rand Water Group Chief Executive, Mr. Sipho Mosai, provided insights into the Station 5 system, detailing its current capacity and future expansion. Once completed, Station 5 will supply an additional 1,2-million liters of potable water per day, significantly boosting Rand Water’s capacity. Since construction began in 2015, an extra 150-million liters of water per day has already been added. This critical project ensures a sustainable water supply for Gauteng, addressing the province’s growing demand.
